BABYMOON?

Friends keep asking me and my husband if we are going to take a "babymoon." Have you heard of this? We now have. It's a take on the honeymoon - meant to give us a getaway before the baby arrives. I know my life is about to change forever and I am thrilled, I have waited a long time for this. But I have decided to pass on the trip. Instead I am sending my husband on a golf trip with his Plainville High School buddies who now live all over the country. I hope that he has a great time and plays well.

I have no hard feelings at all. I will have leave after the baby is born, but he will not. He is already a hands-on dad to two sons and I know he will be there to help me in so many ways.

I am trying to use my time every weekend to shop for baby items and prepare. I thought I had plenty of time, but a few people have told me I'd better get going, ordering the furniture, the crib, etc! And the thought of travelling right now isn't appealing to me. Hey I can wait four years for a Disney vacation. I'm joking, I am already thinking of how flying south with a baby would be next fall and winter!

OK. My husband and I went away for a weekend before our first baby came. It was wonderful. It gave us an opportunity to connect on a different level, I guess because we away from home and all the baby stuff. I never heard of it as a babymoon, but I like it. As for getting ready for the baby. Yes, I agree, it may seem like you have some time, but it goes soooo fast and it gets harder the farther along and the larger you get. Some furniture can take up to 12 wks to order!!! Happy shopping!!! PS. Yes, you will have leave after the baby comes, but in my experiences, leave was no leave. And I don't expect, time off until at least a decade goes by!!! Just kidding. Maybe you might not feel like going away, but what about a night away for a great dinner or even a spa trip.

I was so excited to hear of your pregnancy. I am also pregnant with my first child and reading your blogs helped me. I'm in my 18th week and next week my boyfriend and I will find out what the sex is. My due date is July 3rd. I can't wait. I want to begin buying things BUT not for the wrong gender. Maternity clothes are really taking some getting used to. My lucky stores are Old Navy, Kohl's and Motherhood Outlet at Westbrook. Take care and congrats!!!!!

Babymoon---creative! Towards the end of both of my pregnancies, traveling was the LAST thing I would have wanted to do. I really appreciated my mother-in-law's babysitting after the babies came so we could get out occasionally for a nice, quiet dinner. After the first one I was so nervous leaving her the first few times, then I realized how amused my MIL must have been at my lengthy notes I left her for care of the baby. After all, she'd had 3 boys who all lived!
