"BIG BABY"

I was looking for pictures of big babies being weighed and this one just made me laugh out loud! A few different doctors have now made comments during my ultrasounds that it is a "big baby." I laugh nervously, thinking of how tall my husband and father are. I am glad because it means the baby is healthy.

I have a few random pregnancy issues and observations I thought I would share, because I am sure I am not the first.

1) Things pregnant women should avoid - anything that can aggravate. I thought the emotional roller coaster was during the first trimester? A parking lot attendant yelled at me the other day and I wasn't sure if I was going to break down crying or start yelling. I moved the car......

2) Sleeping is getting harder, and I am not even huge yet. Staying on your side takes effort.

3) Under the belly jeans - did they work for anyone? They feel like they are falling off. I'm hoping they'll fit better later.

Hi Lisa,

I'm due in June. My son is 11 months old. Here are my viewpoints:

1)EVERYTHING aggravates when you're pregnant.

2)Say goodbye to Mr. Sandman. You won't be seeing much of him for a couple of years.

3)Under the belly jeans never worked for me either. I never understood them. The ones with the big ugly over-the-belly panel are much better.

It's so great being a girl...:)

Hi Lisa,

All that matters is that the baby is healthy. My doctor told me my baby was too small and I need to eat more. He was born 7 lbs 12 oz. He is now 19 months old and is 31lbs. Don't let the size scare you. All they are looking at is a picture. I was a stomach and side sleeper. Try a pregnancy wedge. It is a pillow that is shaped like a wedge that you can use to ease the comfort. I found mine at Baby Depot. It worked until I was 8 1/2months, then I had to sleep on my back. I hated the under belly jeans. I like the old fashion maternity jeans that go up over your belly. I felt more secure.

I hope everything is going well for you.. The sleeping situation will get easier.. I used a"Body Pillow". and The jeans never worked for me either. I'm glad that everyone is healthy and look forward to reading more about your pregnancy milestones in the future.

Lisa- Unfortunately, those underbelly jeans (at least for me) were never comfy. I found the big 'over the belly' jeans were the best.

Your emotions will be up and down, until you have the baby, and even after. I still have the roller coaster effect going on, especially now, today is my first day back at work. Baby boy is now 7 weeks old, but luckily I have him at work with me.

Lastly, sleeping on your side, well, stinks. I used to be a tummy and side sleeper. Then you get too big for stomach, so you lay on your back. then you get too big for your back, and then you have no choice but to sleep on your sides. At this point, NOTHING is comfortable and you'll have to grin and bear it until your beautiful baby girl arrives. Trust me, the pain through pregnancy is well worth the outcome.

I sympathize with you on so many of those observations. I am entering my last month but yes sleeping on your sides is very hard, espically when two large dogs (one 85 lbs and one 50 lbs) are sharing you and your hubbys bed.

Also the under the belly jeans, if they don't fit now, they won't fit, you are probably blessed w/o having a large backside, I have the same issue and I got fed up with it I actually had to go out and buy the pants in which the elastic goes mid-belly, they would much better but even they feel like they are going to fall down.

You are looking great on TV, hope everything keeps going so well with you.

Lisa,
Congratulations on your pregnancy. You look so radiant and beautiful.
I'm also pregnant, and I share in your experience on how difficult it is to have a baby, and want one so bad. I have a healthy 3 year old, but suffered two recent losses that were devastating.
I am now 8 weeks pregnant and hoping for the best.
As for the under the belly jeans, they are awful. I found they worked in the very beginning when you transition into maternity clothes. I think you should try the ones with the huge part that fits over the belly. They are much more comfortable, although not the prettiest sight to see!
Good luck on the rest of your pregnancy and thanks for keeping us informed on your progress!

Get a Bellaband! They have them online and at a few of the maternity shops. It's a stretchy band that goes over the tops of the jeans and you can either bunch it up or stretch it over your belly, but it makes the jeans feel more secure. If it shows under your shirt, it just looks like the bottom edge of a tshirt or, if you get the lace-bottomed one, a camisole. Below the bellies have to fit exactly right or they aren't comfortable...when I was pregnant, below the belly meant my upper thighs, so I only had one pair that was even close to comfy. As for sleep, well...you're pretty much done with that for the next 20 years or so anyway!

A body pillow helped with sleeping. You can put it between your knees but also sort of put the edge of it under your belly, too. I tried a wedge pillow but never could get it quite comfortable.

Lisa congrats! Have you tried a body pillow to support your belly when you sleep. I found it to be a blessing. Babys-R-Us has this great pillow that wraps around you and helps support you and the baby in your sleep. Give it a try and get all the sleep you can now, your going to need it later!
