IT'S A GIRL!

My husband and I have learned that we are having a girl. While having a healthy baby is the most important thing, a girl in the family will be a change. My husband's side of the family has lots of boys, and he has two sons, so this will be a new and exciting experience for all of us!

Now I'm noticing dollhouses and paying more attention to stories about baby names. We just ran the top ten list for 2007 on our newscast the other night. For girls they are: Sophia, Isabella, Emma, Madison, Ava, Addison, Hailey, Emily, Kaitlyn, and Olivia. They're all so pretty.

I really don't think I'll be giving the name a whole lot of thought until May draws closer! I am also holding off on decorating a nursery and buying any of those unbelievably cute baby girl outfits. I've got to worry about maternity outfits right now - anything that fits. (I popped two buttons on a jacket last week, fortunately it happened 2 minutes after the news ended!).

I am very close with my mother who I am hoping will volunteer for babysitting 5 days a week (joke to see if she reads this) and also my grandmother who is 87 (she's off the hook.) The thought of another girl in the generations is exciting for us. My sister-in-law and mother-in-law are also as close as can be. There can be a certain bond between mothers and daughters.

I know lots of people like the gender to be a surprise and I think that would be fun too, I just couldn't wait :)

Congrats to you and your entire family! It's quite an exciting time and you will cherish every second of it - even the not-so-good ones! I have three daughters all grown up now and two grandsons - it's very nice to have some boys around the house for a change. All of my girls are close by which is wonderful - I can see my family all the time! The only advice I will dare to give you is this - don't pass up offers of help - those that love you want to help so let them...end of lecture. Good luck, Lisa!

A baby girl is such a blessing, when there are a few more boys in the family than girls. If you need a babysitter, hey call on me. Been through bringing up kids and proud to say, I am a pro. You're such a sweet person, don't know your huband, but, if you married him, he has to be nice. Congrats Lisa!!

How exciting! I have 2 girls myself. I couldn't bear to find out early, so we were surprised both times. I had heard so many stories from people about the ultrasound being wrong (both ways--sometimes the umbilical cord is mistaken) that I didn't want to chance it. However, with my second one I did have an amnio, so we would have had the actual genetic make-up of the baby. By that point, I just couldn't do it. I wanted to be surprised.

Congratulations and have fun "girly" shopping!

Congradulations!! You will find there are so many more cute clothes for girls than for boys! I have two boys and when shopping for clothes, nothing ever hits me as a "great" outfit. But, when looking at the little girls clothes, everything is adorable!! Of course only until she becomes a teenager and only wants to wear whatever the "in" thing happens to be at that time!! You have plenty of years before that though!!!

Might I make a suggestion - even though they said it's a girl, don't always believe the ultrasound technician. I was adamant that I was having a boy from the moment that I first found out that I was pregnant, but the tech told me that I was having a girl. I even asked twice, "are you SURE?" And she replied, "oh yes, most definitely". I went home from that check-up in tears.
Needless to say, after two more ultrasounds "confirming" that it was indeed a girl, When June rolled around and they pulled out a healthy 7 lb., 14oz. baby boy, you could imagine everyone's surprise.
